Claudia Winkleman on why she stands the way she does

Claudia Winkleman, who is currently presenting Celebrity Traitors, explained in a podcast why she stands the way she does. The star said that at times, she feels like she's "falling apart" due to posture issues.

The much-loved TV presenter spoke about why she struggles to stand straight - and despite having eye operations, also has issues with her sight. Speaking about her posture, Claudia revealed that her stance has always been "like a turtle".

Talking about it during a conversation with Gabby Logan on The Mid.Point podcast, The Traitors host explained she was finally tackling her posture issues with professional help.

"My body is made entirely of crepe," she shared. "[I'm] falling apart. I've got a bad back and I need some form of strength. You know what I mean? I've got my core.

"They talked to me about parts of my body. They said, 'The problem is you've never used your lats'. I was like, 'What is that?'. Apparently, so my shoulders are up by my neck"

She demonstrated her posture, we previously reported, adding: "I don't like the look of people standing up straight. It feels somehow cocky, so my stance has always been like a turtle."

'Lats' is short for the latissimus dorsi muscle, one of the largest muscles in the back. Pilates can help improve major muscle groups, posture, flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness.

Claudia added: "I've now got so many backbones. So I go to Pilates and they try and open me up. When they do open me up and I sit or stand like I'm supposed to, like that, I mean, it feels alien."

During the same podcast, the 53-year-old star also provided an update on her ongoing eye troubles. The presenter, who also hosts Strictly Come Dancing, candidly shared her struggle with myopia.

The NHS explained: "Short-sightedness (myopia) is a very common eye condition where you cannot see objects far away clearly. It's usually corrected with glasses or contact lenses."

Despite having two eye operations, she confessed that the condition has resulted in mishaps like walking into walls and problems with motoring and reading. Whilst she particularly struggles with reading, fortunately, she has glasses specially made for her requirements. She shared: "Because I was so short-sighted, by them fixing it, I'm not long-sighted, so I can't really read anymore. I can with glasses, I've got 2.5."

Thankfully, her vision problems haven't prevented her from enjoying a thriving career. She's currently hosting Celebrity Traitors, which is set to air its finale tonight (November 6) alongside Strictly Come Dancing, working alongside Tess Daly.

The Strictly duo will not be returning to the show, with the current season - and this year's Christmas special - being their last.
